5th Ph.D. Seminar of the International Telecommunications Society

23-24 October 2013
Florence, Italy

Programme (as of 20 September, 2013)

Meet the Experts!
The International Telecommunications Society (ITS) is an association of academics and other professionals in the information, communications, and technology sectors. Its network of researchers comprises outstanding scholars in the field of telecommunications research who are well known from the literature (see www.itsworld.org).

In furtherance of its tradition of sharing with younger researchers the valuable expertise represented by highly specialised academics and renowned industry experts, ITS is pleased to announce its 5th Ph.D. seminar.

Up to 15 students will be selected from the responses to this call. Based on the topics presented by the winning candidates, experts from the ITS network will be chosen to discuss new ideas brought forward by these Ph.D. students. The focus will be on the discussion of ideas presented by the participants, and less on the mere presentation of papers. A selection of papers presented at the seminar will be encouraged for refereed submission to the journal, Telecommunications Policy.

The seminar will be linked with the European Regional ITS Conference to be held at the same location (October 20-23) immediately prior to the Ph.D. seminar. Access to the European Regional Conference (details on which may be found at http://www.itseurope.org) will be free of charge for the participants of the Ph.D. seminar.
The seminar will be organised by ITS and Chalmers University of Technology. It will be held in Florence and hosted by the Florence School of Regulation at the European University Institute. Successful participants will receive a certificate from the International Telecommunications Society.
Participation in the seminar is free of charge. Participants, however, will be responsible for their travel costs and accommodation. Organisational support will be provided.
